Ralph Thrale death announcement THRALE - On September 29th, peacefully in his sleep, Ralph aged 88. Dearly loved husband of Gwen, fond father of Jennifer, Peter and Jeremy and grandfather of Christopher and Hugh. Cremation and private service of thanksgiving at St. Mary's Church, Redbourn on Friday October 8th at 11.30 am followed by interment of ashes in the Garden of rest. N. Thrale shop 1898 Ernest Norman Thrale, Hannah Thrale (nee Green) and their son Norman Thrale outside their first shop at 80 London Road, St Albans c.1898.
It was Hannah who about 1898 asked to be allowed to place a few sweets in the parlour window for sale; these were quickly sold, and a business was born. She worked all hours of all days, and the little confectionery business in London Road thrived. |
