Provenance
Commissioned by the sitter's parents, Hester (1741-1821) and Henry Thrale (1728-1781), and by descent to the sitter, Hester Maria Thrale (1764-1857).With Daniel H. Farr, New York and Philadelphia, until 1924, when acquired by Keith Merrill, Avalon, Prides Crossing, Massachusetts, and by inheritance to the current owner.
