The Thrale Almshouses were built at 103-105 Streatham High Road next to the police station in 1832 to provide subsidised lodgings for four poor widows or single women of Streatham who had "attained an honest old age".A plaque on the almshouses were inscribed:
... which translates as:QUATUOR MULIERIBUS,
QUÆ IN HÂC PAROCHIÂ PAUPERES
SENECTUTEM HONESTAM ATTIGERINT,
HENRICI THRALE QUATUOR NATÆ
HAS ÆDES
DOMICILIUM POSERUNT.
A.D. MDCCCXXXII.
Four women
who, in this pauper parish,
have attained honourable old age,
the four daughters of Henry Thrale,
have established
this dwelling.

1930 demolition and rebuilding
In 1930 the almshouses were rebuilt and upgraded at 27 Polworth Road, after which this land was sold for retail redevelopment.Current usage
