Notes:

A historical form of charitable housing for the poor, elderly, or disabled, the Thrale Almshouses were established by the four daughters of Henry and Hester Thrale:

Originally located at 103-105 Streatham High Road in 1832, they were rebuilt in 1930 at 27 Polworth Road, Streatham, Surrey and modernised and expanded in 2015.

1832

The Thrale Almshouses were built at 103-105 Streatham High Road next to the police station in 1832 to provide subsidised lodgings for four poor widows or single women of Streatham who had "attained an honest old age".

A plaque on the almshouses were inscribed:

QUATUOR MULIERIBUS,
QUÆ IN HÂC PAROCHIÂ PAUPERES
SENECTUTEM HONESTAM ATTIGERINT,
HENRICI THRALE QUATUOR NATÆ

HAS ÆDES
DOMICILIUM POSERUNT.
A.D. MDCCCXXXII.

... which translates as:

Four women
who, in this pauper parish,
have attained honourable old age,
the four daughters of Henry Thrale,
have established
this dwelling.
A.D. 1832.
