The former Lady Cotton was the daughter of Sir Thomas Lynch, who amassed a fortune while serving as the governor of Jamaica. Lady Cotton’s first husband, Sir Thomas Cotton, died in 1715. Following his death, she used her inheritance to construct East Hyde around 1716.
Located a few miles from Offley Place, East Hyde is notable for its architectural style and historical significance connected to prominent families of the period.
As of 1975, East Hyde was owned by Mr & Mrs David Hambro.
