Notes:
Thrale family ownership:
- John Thrale (died 1589), who established himself at the inn and requested burial in the Church of St Mary Magdalen, Old Fish Street;
- from 1589, his son John Thrale (yeoman of Hoxton, Middlesex; died 1616), who inherited the property and left a large family;
- continued in Thrale family possession until at least 1672, held by Richard Thrale (citizen and grocer of London; aged 37+ in 1672), probably the last family member connected with it.
The original building was destroyed in the Great Fire of London (1666); the site lies beneath modern post-war development near Knightrider Street and Old Change.
