During World War II, he worked in defense at Colt Patent Fire Arms in Hartford, Conn. and later at Hamilton Standard Propeller at Windsor Locks. For two years, during 1952 and 1954, Mary and Francis conducted their own ceramic shop in Poquonock, Conn. [2]
