      Upon naturalisation, Joseph was asked his name, Unfortunately, Joseph English was poor and he thought he was being asked for his religion. Not knowing the word for Jewish in English, he instead said "Son of Abraham", which led to his surname being incorrectly recorded as Abrahams instead of Franck. Not able to rectify the error, Joseph used the surname Abrahams instead.
