  It is apparent that these members of the family had come to Sandridge to join their kinsmen in Sandridge and then moved away again. [1] Volume 93 (page 100) of The Publications of the Harleian Society records the union of Thomas Smethwick b 1619 to Mary Thrale (daughter of Francis Thrale of St Martin in the Fields). It also says that Thomas and Mary had a son William born 1646. It is, however, not clear as to whether this Francis Thrale and the Francis mentioned by the Harleian Society, is one and the same?
