Miss Thrale Again Wins On Jimmy's Pet
Newmarket Town Plate, the historic race founded by King Charles II to commemorate his accession to the throne and decreed by him to be run on the second Thursday in October for ever, was won today by Miss Thrale on her father's horse, Jimmy's Pet, who started at evens. Thus she repeated her last year's success on the same horse.
Second and third were Miss Audrey Bell on Master of Pate and Mrs. J. E. Bott on her own horse, Sans Prix.
The full result of the race was as follows:— 1, Mr.P. Thrale's JIMMY'S PET (Miss Thrale: 2. Mr. J.Bell's MASTER OF FATE (Miss A. Bell: 3, Mrs J E. BOTT's SAN PRIX (Mrs. J. E. Bott). Also ran: Miss M. Orr's Struan (Miss Orr), Mr. A. Norman's Pegomond (Mr. D. Norman), Miss J. Clayton's Diogenes (Miss Angela Earl), Mr. C. Horman's Porker (Mr. C. Horman). Mr. E. Wardrop's Ever Willing (Mr. E Wardrop) , Mrs. Bertha Verrall's Letage (Mrs. Verrall), Mr. L. Covill's Claran (Miss B. A. Deere), and Miss Bowskill's Foxflair (Miss Bowskill).
Betting: Evens JIMMY'S PET, 3 to 1 agst Diogenes, 7 to 2 Master of Fate, 9 to 2 Sans Prix, 10 to 1 Porker, 100 to 7 others. Won by 10 lengths; a similar distance between second and third.
