ABSTRACT OF THE WILL OF RICHARD THRALE THE ELDER OF MARSHALLSWICK IN THE PARISH OF SANDRIDGE CO. HERTFORD.

I give to the poor people of the parish of Sandridge where I now dwell 40s.
I give to my son William Thrale £400 to be paid as followeth out of my goods, stock and chattels by my executor (that is to say) £200 within six months of my decease and the other £200 six months after.
I likewise give unto my said son William Thrale the bedstead in the chamber called Maides Chamber in my dwelling house two feather beds two feather boulsters one coverlid two blanckets one flock bed 6 pairs of sheets one of the middle sort of the brass pottage potts Six of the middle sort of the pewter dishes half a dozen of napkins the coffer that was his own mother's coffer the long table and frame in the kitchen the form and four joint stools.
I give to my son John Thrale half a dozen of the napkins that are at my dwelling house and those goods following which are at my sons Thomas Thrales being one coverlid one feather bed five pair of sheets the long table without a frame one brass pottage pot, one bolster the coffer that the linen lyes in and six middle sort of pewter dishes.
I give to my son Ralph Thrale half a dozen napkins of them which are at my dwelling house and those goods following that are likewise at my son Thomas Thrales being one coverlid and feather bed five pair of sheets one bolster one brass pottage pot one bedstead and curtains one coffer set of the middle sort of the pewter dishes.
I do give €10 a year during the life of Mary Thrale widow to be paid quarterly towards the maintenance of the said Mary to such person as that do or shall carefully bed and board the said Mary Thrale to be duly paid by my executor out of my goods stock and chattels.
The rest of my goods etc. I give to my son Richard Thrale and make my said son Richard Thrale executor.
